On 11 October, Calasparra will host a bullfighting festival with strong local presence. Three hometown toreros share the bill in the season’s final event.
The town of Calasparra, in the Region of Murcia, will bring its bullfighting season to a close with a festival that strongly highlights local talent. Chipé Producciones, run by Pedro Pérez “Chicote”, together with the Town Council of Calasparra, has put together a very special line-up featuring toreros from Murcia, three of them born in Calasparra.
The event is scheduled for Saturday 11 October at 5:30 p.m., with performances by matadors Emilio Serna, Antonio Puerta and Filiberto, the latter a native of Calasparra. Completing the line-up are the local novilleros (apprentice bullfighters without picadors) Salvador Ruiz “El Marqués” and Jesús Montiel, two promising young names in the town’s bullfighting scene.
For the occasion, three young bulls from the Marqués de Domecq ranch will be fought by the matadors, while two animals from Dámaso González have been assigned to the novilleros. The mix ensures variety and excitement in the ring.
Anticipation in the town is running high, as this will be the last chance of the year to see Calasparra’s own toreros in action.
