The Murcia Fair began with an afternoon full of excitement and commitment. Novilleros Parrita, Víctor Acebo and Javier Zulueta delivered a vibrant spectacle, cutting a total of eight ears and winning over a crowd that enjoyed every moment. The good condition of Fuente Ymbro’s novillos helped showcase a young, ambitious trio that left the arena through the Puerta Grande.
The opening novillada in Murcia was marked by triumph. From the very start, Parrita showed his deep connection with his homeland and the weight of his artistic style. With the first novillo, noble and fluid, he especially shone with the left hand, producing natural passes of great quality. He was awarded a first ear. With the fourth, he tempered the bull on both sides in a faena that grew in intensity and concluded with stylish finishing touches. A solid sword thrust followed by a descabello secured him two ears and a place in the final triumph.
Víctor Acebo sought to make his mark from the outset. With the second novillo, somewhat short of strength but noble, he applied finesse and composure, shaping an elegant faena that lost its reward with the sword. Silence after two warnings did not erase the positive impression. Redemption came with the fifth, where his perseverance on the right hand and several meritorious passes, rounded off with a sword and descabello, earned him two ears.
Meanwhile, Javier Zulueta displayed skill and composure with the third novillo, an animal reluctant to yield. After dedicating his performance to Pepín Liria, he delivered a powerful and assured faena, rewarded with one ear. His greatest triumph came with the sixth: he excelled with the cape, first with verónicas and later chicuelinas, before beginning with the muleta on one knee, drawing high passes of striking plasticity. The faena was cohesive and profound, reaching high levels despite the bull’s rougher behaviour on the left side. Two more ears crowned his afternoon.
Fuente Ymbro’s novillada was serious, well-presented and offered variety, allowing all three novilleros to express themselves fully. A third of the Murcia bullring filled on a hot afternoon, with the audience leaving satisfied after a fair’s opening full of promise.
